This is probably the last half marathon I will get to do in Hawaii... :(  I guess it's only appropriate since it was also the first half I ever ran 2 years ago and I'm so glad I got to do it three times while living here!  It's a great race with some challenging hills but some sweet sweet down hills as well!  The best part?!  I got to PR AGAIN!  Only this time I feel like I had the race I know I've been capable of for a while!

Another awesome part?  Nic flew in just in time to run it with me!  Last year she got here right after the race and though she's ran for years she's never done a half so we stayed together for the first 11.5 miles and she still had some energy left so she went ahead of me!  Ashley decided to really go for it and she finished her third marathon with an amazing PR as well!  It was most definitely a great day for all 3 of us!!  I didn't even start feeling it till mile 10 when Nic said to me, "ya it's only fun till about mile 10."  We were laughing about that when another girl came up behind us and said I need some of your energy can I run with you?  So she did for last 3 miles of the race and we were all just chatting away which made it that much easier!  Ah I want to go back to this day!

My fun run nail has to be documented!

I thought our shirts were so super cute!!

Nic was less than thrilled about the 3:30 wake up!  Do we look tired?  Also my cute shirt this race was a birthday present from Cristine and it says Never Mess with a Woman who Runs 13.1 miles for fun! :)

Ugh race pics are awful and this was at the top of the hardest hill of the race but I love it because it's me and Nic and the girl in the back was our new found friend!!

My time!  2:08:20 makes and average pace of 9:48 which is a decently respectable time! :)

Love that they had a PR bell at the end!  I rang the heck out of it!

All 3 of us PRed!  Nic's PR was running the race for the first time!! ;)

After the race Ashley and I introduced Nic to Denny's except Nic loves her spaghetti after a race so she had spaghetti at Denny's at 9 am! HAHA! LOVE IT!!

These 2 girls are so incredibly lucky to go to school in Hawaii!  They get to experience all the cool cultural aspects of Hawaii!  One of those things is May Day!  May Day is just the celebration of Spring and leis and flowers and all the schools do fun performances. At Alexis and Ryan's school each grade performs a different song as well as the hula club.  It's a little long but I really love the May Day celebration!  So cute!  Plus it's basically a given that most of the kids are taken out of school for the rest of the day!  Always a plus in my book!  As a bonus Trav was off that day so he was able to watch this year!

Alexis's song was a Hawaiian song and they did the cutest Hula dance.  They got to wear cute Hawaiian clothes with flowers in their hair and leis!

Lex and her friend Naomi

Ryan did a dance to the "Taro Patch Twist" they wore rolled up jeans and slippahs!  I love her friend Zachary photo bombing in the back ground!

Ryan and Will!

Ryan is ready to bust out the moves!

She had the twist down!

Alexis going to start.

She did some cute hula moves!

Not only did Trav get to come but Nic flew in the day before so she came to watch too!!

Love!!

Beware the picture overload!!  There are a ton from this hike and I wanted to share them all because it was a beautiful hike and probably the hardest (although not the longest) hike I have done with the kids.  We did this hike on a Saturday (after a 12 mile training run!  I was EXHAUSTED! HA!) Travis has been taking another class so he needed the quiet to get his paper done.  I'm so proud of him but hate when he can't go because I know how much he loves hiking!

This was a 3.5 mile hike and there were quite a few steep parts.  David even hiked almost all of this one on his own and there was very little complaining (note I said very little not none!)  By the end of this one Ryan was about done too so I think we definitely found these kids limit.  This one is Waimano Falls and the Falls at the end were breathtaking.  The hard part about this one is most of the downhill is on the way to the falls so coming back is the tough part.  There is even one part that is pretty steep and full of tree roots that has been nicknames cardiac hill.  It got my heart pumping for sure.  For some reason the harder parts are the parts my kids seem to thrive on.  Anyone know why that is??  Anyways beautiful hike with some great moms and kids.  There were 10 of us all together.  3 moms and 7 kids.  We were quite a site and we had quite a few comments and looks of "those women may be crazy." haha!  Great day!

David said this was his hiking stick only it was so short he had to bend way over to make it touch the ground. HAHA!

At the falls.  These pics are in absolutely no order!  Ryan and her goofy poses! And as always SHAKA!

David LOVES getting in the water at the falls!

6 out of 7 of the kids.

The crazy moms.

My little family.  It was a beautiful day so it was pretty crowded.  We stayed at the bottom of the falls and watched everyone jump in.  There was a bigger section of the falls up above this area.

Ryan told me she made her own grass skirt!

Part of the trail.

This was a part of the steep part!  Very impressed with all the kids.

He usually wants me to help him at all times but this was one of the times he let Ashley hold his hand (which gives me a bit of a break!)

It's always so green!

Crazy but fun moms! :)

Lex and Hannah chillin watching people jump!

Great shot of the splash from a jumper.  The water is actually deeper than it looks.

The upper part of the falls.  You can tell it hadn't been raining as much which was helpful for the hiking part because it wasn't as muddy!

Looking down from the top of the falls you can see Ryan way down there.

David rode for maybe a half mile total in the carrier but there were a few parts I couldn't have him in there because he was throwing off my balance and it was easier to climb the rocks holding his hand.  He didn't complain at all and he loves to jump off the rocks we climb.

A hiking day is always a happy day!

We wrapped up another season of soccer.  The girls made some great friends, had great coaches, and great teams!!  I think both of their teams only lost 1 game all year!  They are both still loving soccer.  Occasionally they won't want to go to practice and I'll say ok that's fine and then they almost always change their minds!  Love our little soccer players!
