It was haircut day in the McBride house and they all looked so dang cute with fresh haircuts we decided a photo shoot was in order. Lexi decided on bangs and Ry decided she wanted it short! Lexi's reason for bangs was because some characters in the books she reads have bangs (Such a cute little bookworm.) Ryan didn't say why she wantd to cut it short but I suspect it has something to do with her teacher having short hair. Either way they both looked adorable. David also got a cut and modeled how he can rock the sweet boy look and the bad boy look!

These pictures do NOT do these waves justice. These were the biggest waves in Oahu in over a decade. We were in the car for over 2 hours to get to North Shore to watch for about 15 minutes only to turn around for 2 more hours and go home. And is was worth every minute. The kids even agreed it was worth it! It was absolutely breath taking and I could not believe my eyes. Such a wondeful experience. The best part was where we were standing we should have been completely safe from the waves but the waves came all the way up to where the cars were parked and Ryan and I both lost our shoes! (We got them back.) Thank goodness I was holding David and was with Nate and Cristine so Nate grabbed Lex while I had to chase Ryan who was chasing our shoes. I happened to be trying to record when it happened and it's short and choppy b/c I was chasing Ry but I think it's hilarious so I'm sharing anyways! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeKEr0llK9E&feature=youtu.be
After we were attacked by the wave! Our car was parked here too! Luckily it was all fine and we left shortly after this! |

The Frosty 5k was a race on post. I was REALLY hoping to get my under 30 (minute) 5k but there ended up being a really intense hill for about 1/4 of a mile and I just couldn't get there. I did have my best time yet (a 5k is 3.1 miles.) 30:36 was my time and next time it will be under 30! I only have 2 pictures: Before and After. :)
Before; Happy and ready to go. (Love that these girls are as obssesed with racing as I am!) |
After; Happy and ready to eat breakfast! ;) |

It's no secret that I have the coolest, sweetest, greatest friends on the planet. Everywhere we go we meet the best of the best. I am so blessed to have met so many wonderful families and thankful for the modern technology that makes it SOOOO easy to keep in touch! The Laessle Family was in Hawaii before Georgia so when we found out we were going to Hawaii they pumped us up even more to get here because they LOVED every minute of living here. Needless to say they had to take their family vacation to come back to visit before their next PCS (which is to ALASKA!) They stayed in a military hotel on the beach so we basically spent as much time as they let us with them at their hotel! They also had a bbq with us, Holtgrewe's and some of their other really good friends from when they lived here. It was a great week and I sure hate when visitors have to leave! This was the beginning of January.
Obligatory THEY'RE here selfie in the car! HAHA! |
These 4 are fabulous together! Lexi and Ayden we're in 1st grade together and Ryan and Brady we're in Pre-K together till we left GA. They didn't miss a beat. |
I just love them! It makes my heart hurt looking through these again! |
BBQing (which was also Whale watching later on!!!) |
You try getting 10 kids 8 and under all looking at the camera at the same time! (Ryan is hiding behind Eric!) We had so much fun! |
The girls! (Emily, Cristine, Dianna, Me) |
I know this is random but it was at the bbq and she is just so cute!! |

We decided to hit up a different beach to test out the snorkeling. Travis LOVES snorkeling, the girls and David love playing in the water and sand, I love sitting on the beach and watching it all (and snorkeling when I can.) This was Diamondhead Beach and the day was GORGEOUS! Yes I know I have a million beach pictures but it just doesn't get old for me!
First thing they did was find some tiny squid! |
David also likes to put sand anywhere he can. |
My sweet Lex pondering life. |
Ry and I taking our thumbs up selfies. |
One of the cool shells Travis found. |

After Dave and Kerry left Travis still had a few days of leave left so we made the most of it and did what we do... We hiked! This hike was one of many trails at Pu'u Ualaka'a lookout. The trail we did was called Ualaka'a trail but there were a TON of other trails and will probably try another one sometime too. It was nice because there was a nice grassy area for a picnic that we hit up after our hike. This is the first hike David had a harder time on. He just wanted to walk but he's still a little too small to be on his own...
Found himself a hiking stick before we even left the car! |
He's good to go! |
I absolutely love these trees here! |
My hiking family. I love them all! |
